Real Madrid close in on signing of young star Rodrigo Antonio Rodrigues
The Gremio Novorizontino midfielder was in Madrid this week
He will join the club next year when he turns 18
Real Madrid are close to signing one of the most promising players in Brazilian football: Rodrigo Antonio Rodrigues, the young star from Gremio Novorizontino who has been on loan at Palmeiras.
According to 'UOL Esporte', Rodrigo was in Spain on Thursday to undergo a medical and Madrid are set to announce a six-year contract for the 17-year-old midfielder.
Rodrigo took part in a tournament in Spain in August with Palmeiras and it was then that he caught Madrid's eye. For that reason, Palmeiras will receive around one million reales when the deal is closed.
The agreement is similar to the one which saw Real Madrid land Vinicius Júnior (Flamengo), who due to his age is unable to sign professional terms with a foreign club yet.
According to the reports, Rodrigo will move to Madrid in April 2018, when he turns 18. Until then, he will play for Novorizontino.
