Real Madrid 4-0 Espanyol: Los Blancos seal LaLiga title in style

Rodrygo scored twice as Carlo Ancelotti's side wrapped up the league title

Real Madrid clinched the LaLiga title on Saturday with a comfortable 4-0 win over Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu. 

Madrid only needed a point to seal their 35th Primera Division bit took all three despite making wholesale changes with Wednesday's Champions League semifinal second leg against Manchester City in mind. 

Rodrygo Goes scored twice in the first half to get the party started, with Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema getting in on the act after the break. 

Coach Carlo Ancelotti becomes the first-ever manager to win all five of Europe's top leagues having previously conquered the championships in Italy, England, France and Germany. 

Ancelotti rotated his squad against Espanyol, safe in the knowledge Madrid only needed one point from five games to win the league, after a grueling 4-3 loss to Man City in midweek. 

However, against an Espanyol side with little to play for, Madrid were still far too strong for their opposition. 

Rodrygo opened the scoring after good work from Marcelo and then added the second following a mistake by Yangel Herrera. 

Asensio scored the third in the second half and Karim Benzema, introduced as a substitute for the final 30 minutes, grabbed the fourth after Isco had a goal disallowed. 

With the title wrapped up, Madrid's full focus is now on the Champions League, with another comeback needed against City after a thrilling first leg at the Etihad Stadium.
