Partido correspondiente a la primera jornada de la fase de grupos de la Liga de Campeones disputado en el Santiago Bernabéu en presencia de 80.000 espectadores.

While Cristiano Ronaldo was busy getting sent off on the east coast with Juventus, Los Blancos were wiping the floor with last season’s semi-finalists Roma.

Madrid were on top from the off. Gareth Bale fired inches wide, while Isco shot at goalkeeper Olson when he might have scored.

Toni Kroos was off target with a couple of efforts as the hosts dominated.

Eventually Isco made the breakthrough before half-time with a sumptuous free-kick, curled in after he himself had been brought down by Daniele De Rossi.

Bale added the second after a brilliant Luka Modric pass, with the Welshman lashing home brutally to double the score.

Substitute Mariano Diaz curled in a special third on his second debut for the club to seal a superb night for Madrid.
