Zinedine Zidane's side have now dropped points in back-to-back home games, following their draw with Valencia before the international break.

Therefore, they are now four points behind early leaders Barcelona after just three league games, with the Catalan side beating Espanyol 5-0 later on Saturday.

Madrid had to come from behind here as Levante, who have made a strong start on their return to La Liga, took a surprise lead through Ivi in the 12th minute.

Zidane's side reacted, though, and got back into the game before half-time when Lucas Vazquez was on target.

However, despite having the whole second half, they couldn't find a winner, with Raul Fernandez making a string of fine saves.

Without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo, Madrid were delat a further blow when Karim Benzema, with Gareth Bale coming on from the bench to play as a lone striker.

Madrid pressed until the final minute, with Toni Kroos hitting the post in stoppage time as two points escaped them once again.
