The Real Sociedad goalkeeper made several saves to keep Madrid and Vinicius at bay
Real Madrid dropped two points against Real Sociedad to leave Barcelona five clear at the top of La Liga.
The Santiago Bernabeu witnessed a goalless draw on Sunday in which Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro kept Vinicius Junior at bay repeatedly.
La Real, third, trail Madrid by three points after their good result on the road.
Remiro made seven saves as Madrid played good football but without the cutting edge to score.
Karim Benzema fired blanks while Vinicius could not find a way past the pumped up Remiro.
"It was one of the best games we've played this season," said Ancelotti.
"It's true Barca are doing very well, but the season is very long, January is complicated, but the team have progressed a lot in all areas.
"The players are starting to improve, the injured players (will return), so we are confident for the coming months, we can get stuck into it in the second half of the season."
