The Real Madrid captain has responded to the criticism he's been given

Spain and Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has protested his innocence after being accused of deliberately injuring Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the Champions League final.

Ramos says he is "just missing [Liverpool striker] Firmino claiming that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him."

"They've given a lot of attention to the Salah matter," Ramos said, defending himself. "I didn't want to speak because everything is magnified. but seeing the play well, he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side. The injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold."

He added: "After that the goalkeeper says that I dazed him with a clash. I am just missing Firmino saying that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him."

Ramos revealed that he's spoken with Salah: "I spoke with him through messages he is quite good. He could even have played if he got an injection for the second half.

"I have done it sometimes but it seems like when Ramos does something like this, it sticks a little bit more. I don't know if it's because you're at Madrid for so long and win for so long that people look at it a different way."
