Pablo Machin teaches Julen Lopetegui a lesson
The Real Madrid coach had no answer to Sevilla's rampage
Julen Lopetegui failed again in a high difficult game and left serious doubts over his capability to manage a huge club. His opposite number Pablo Machin, Sevilla coach, gave him a tactical lesson which was made evident in their 3-0 win over Real at the Sanchez-Pizjuan. It was Madrid’s first defeat of the season.
Machin taught Zinedine Zidane a lesson last season at Montilivi, beating Real there. Now it is Lopetegui he is schooling. The Madrid boss couldn’t solve the puzzle given to him by Machin, who used three central defenders.
Sevilla overwhelmed his team in the first half, Marcelo was a sieve on the left flank and Sevilla found the gaps there relentlessly, with Lopetegui impotent. The Brazilian lost the battle with Jesus Navas and can be blamed in each of the three goals.
Despite his team being overwhelmed, Lopetegui gave no solutions from the bench. His impotence was evident.
