The Norwegian playmaker did not feature in Ancelotti's plans for this campaign

One of this summer's biggest transfer sagas has now been concluded. Norwegian international Martin Odegaard has joined Arsenal on a permanent deal, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates.

The signing was officially announced by the North London club early on Friday morning. The total value of the deal is 40 million euros plus add-ons. It is understoof that Real Madrid do not have a buy-back clause as part of the deal.

Odegaard may be available to make his second debut in this weekend's London derby against Chelsea. He already knows the players and coaches from his loan spell last season, so it is hoped that he will be able to settle in quickly.

His move makes a possible swap deal between Philippe Coutinho and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang unlikely.
