Not off the hook: Real Madrid star Ronaldo's five-game ban stands
Madrid's appeal has been knocked back, leaving them without Ronaldo for the next month
Ronaldo will miss the Super Cup game against Barcelona and four La Liga matches
After a meeting on Wednesday, the Appeals' Committee have decided to uphold the five-match ban given to Cristiano Ronaldo after he pushed referee De Burgos Bengoetxea during Sunday's Super Cup win over Barcelona.
Ronaldo was sent off for two yellow cards -- the first for taking his shirt off, the second for diving -- and to show his anger at the referee he pushed him as he left the pitch.
That earned him a four-game ban, in addition to the one-match suspension for the original red card.
Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane's comments yesterday put pressure on the Appeals' Committee to reverse the Competition Committee's decision, but they decided to turn down the appeal.
Ronaldo will miss the Super Cup second leg against Barcelona on Wednesday and La Liga matches against Deportivo, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
Madrid, however, may be able to take the case to the TAD, an option they are looking into.
