The Belgian has gone 457 minutes without conceding and leads the Zamora Trophy

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is one of the keys to Real Madrid's remarkable defensive record since the Coronavirus stoppage.

The netsman has gone 457 minutes without conceding a goal, leading the Zamora Trophy classification thanks to shipping just 18 goals in 31 games, above Jan Oblak. That's 0.58 goals per game.

Courtois has 18 clean sheets this season, one short of Madrid's record by Paco Buyo in the 1986/87 season. The Belgian has also gone five games without conceding and the best record at the club is seven.

Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino was the only player so far capable of beating Courtois since La Liga returned. Espanyol, Getafe, Athletic and Alaves were unable to score.

They have won each game since it came back. Courtois has had luck too, with Alaves hitting the bar and Casemiro clearing off the line.
