No one has had more success in the competition than Los Blancos

Real Madrid maintained their romance with the Champions League on Saturday as they beat Liverpool 1-0 to lift the trophy for the 14th time.

Los Blancos have won the competition more than any other club and have now gone 41 years without losing a final in continental competition.

Since losing to Liverpool in Paris in 1981, Madrid have won all eight European Cup finals they have made, in 1997/1998, 1999/2000, 2001/2002, 2013/2014, 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2021/2022). They have only lost three Euro finals in their history.

After this weekend's triumph in Paris, they now have more than double the amount of Champions League trophies than anyone else, with AC Milan next in the list on seven. Behind them are Liverpool and Bayern Munich with six and Barcelona with five.

Madrid have dominated the competition since 1956, when they won the first edition against Stade de Reims in Paris. They won five in a row in fact: 1955/1956, 1956/1957, 1957/1958, 1958/1959 and 1959/1960.

32 YEARS

After winning it in 1966, they had to wait 32 years to win it again, beating Juve un 1998. The next two soon followed, in 2000 and 2002, but they then had to wait until 2014 to clinch La Decima and have now won it in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022 since.
