Neymar was injured in 3-0 win against Marseille on Sunday

Neymar's father has confirmed the Paris Saint-Germain star will be missing for up to eight weeks after injuring his ankle and breaking a bone in his foot at the weekend.

The Brazil international was in tears as he was taken off on a stretcher during PSG's 3-0 win over Marseille.

As a result, he will miss next week's Champions League game against Real Madrid in Paris, which PSG go into trailing 3-1 from the first leg.

"PSG already know they will not have Neymar in the next few games, six weeks minimum because this treatment will last six to eight weeks," Neymar Sr told ESPN.

"That is already certain, regardless of surgery. What we can't do is something that may cause a fracture in the future."

Given there had been rumours Neymar could have an injection which would possibly allow him to feature against Madrid, the player's father was quite clear.

"Yes, of course, he is out against Real Madrid," he added. "It is absurd if anybody thinks otherwise."
