Víctor Gálvez said, "Guti isn't going to coach Murcia because he's going to be Real Madrid's coach"

Murcia's president, Victor Galvez, is the person to have officially announced who is going to take over at Real Madrid following Zinedine Zidane's resignation. Galvez reveals that Florentino Perez has decided to chose Guti.

The surprise announcement came during a press conference that Galvez conducted today to explain his own efforts to lure Guti to Murcia. According to his version, Galvez offered Guti the chance to be the head coach at Murcia but the resignation of Zidane last week changed everything. "I spoke with Guti and we were going meet on Thursday. I wanted to convince him to come to Real Murcia but then Zidane left Real Madrid. It's a shame Zidane hadn't waited another couple of days before announcing his decision to leave."

THE CHOSEN ONE

The Murcia president then added: "Guti isn't going to be Murcia's manager because he's going to be Real Madrid's first team coach. He was the coach that I wanted." He urged Florentino Perez to make a decision quickly. "Announce who the new coach is. If it's Guti, phenomenal." Galvez said Guti was "excited" by the prospect of managing Murcia. "He called to thank me for my interest in him."

It's curious that a coach who was negotiating to take over a team in the Segunda Division B could end up being chosen by Perez to take the reigns of the current Champions League holders.
