Morientes: Real Madrid star Hazard could be at Messi's level

The ex-Madrid forward does not believe Los Blancos need to make any signings

Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes doesn't think his ex-club need to make any signings because they're in safe hands with Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard.

Hazard had a stop-start first season in Madrid, plagued by injuries, but Morientes feels he's capable of matching Messi when he's at his best.

"The best Hazard, the best Rodrigo, the best Asensio or the best Vinicius accompanied by the responsibility and experience of Benzema is a good starting point," Morientes said at the launch of the new La Liga season on Monday.

"This year's signing was already made last summer (Hazard) because he's not exploded yet, but if he's at his best level he's alongside Messi. Players from the academy could be important in the medium or long-term, too."

On last season's star, Benzema, he added: "He showed he's enough to command the attack because those around him weren't at their best."

For that reason, the ex-Spain international doesn't think Zinedine Zidane needs to add to his title-winning squad.
