Mirror: Manchester United want Madrid's Raphael Varane
Mourinho tried to sign the French defender when he was Chelsea coach
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is a summer target for Premier League side Manchester United, according to British newspaper the Daily Mirror.
United coach Jose Mourinho, who worked with Varane during his time at Madrid, has made the France centre-back one of his top targets.
The English side are ready to offer 50 million euros for Varane, a player they tried to sign in 2011 as well before ending up with Blackburn Rovers' Phil Jones.
Mourinho also tried to sign Varane in 2014, when he was in charge after Chelsea, but was unable to lure him from Spain.
Varane renewed his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu recently until 2020, though, and it seems unlikely he will push to leave the club -- United face a difficult task.
