Mbappé understands that he is unlikely to move this summer

The player is aware his chances of moving to Real Madrid this summer are slim

Despite rumours of a move to Real Madrid filling newspapers for weeks, Kylian Mbappé is now resigned to seeing out the final year of his contract at PSG. The French club do not need to sell the player, despite the arrival of Messi and the other high-earning summer signings, which means there is less pressure for them to find a buyer in this window. Furthermore, the club's president Al-Khelaifi has no intention of strengthening a direct rival for this season's Champions League trophy, and he remains keen to see Mauricio Pochettino deploy the dream Messi-Neymar-Mbappé front line.

The player wants to leave and has done for various months. Messi's arrival has reinforced his stance, as he is aware that he will not be the focal point in attack or the team's star player. Messi will earn practically double Mbappé's current salary, while Neymar already earned more than he does. He finds himself third in the pecking order and he would like to move elsewhere to become the main man.

REAL MADRID WILL KEEP TRYING

According to 'Cadena SER', Mbappé has already told his team mates that he will stay at PSG for the final year of his contract. Social media posts made by PSG and Mbappé himself suggest that he is not leaving Paris any time soon. If he stays at the club, he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club from 1 January onwards. Mbappé has already given Real Madrid his word that he will join next summer, but they are not willing to settle for this. Instead, they will keep trying to sign the player until the end of the current transfer window.

When asked about his side's movements, manager Carlo Ancelotti said "The window closes on 31 August. I can't confirm that our business is done, because some players may ask to leave [in which case we might look to replace them]". While he refused to be drawn into speaking about the French international specifically, he did not hide his admiration for the player.

MBAPPÉ BOOED IN OPENING GAME

Last Saturday may have marked a turning point in the whole saga. When Mbappé's name was read out at the Parc des Princes during the official squad presentation, it was widely booed by the club's supporters. The fans are unhappy at his refusal to sign a new deal, while Kylian feels he deserves more respect. It remains to be seen whether this will lead him to force through a move this summer.
