Marcelo: Real Madrid relaxed after taking the lead at Sevilla

The Brazilian full-back hopes Los Blancos are able to learn from their defeat at the Sanchez Pizjuan

Marcelo felt Real Madrid took their foot off the gas after taking the lead against Sevilla as they were beaten 2-1 on Sunday at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

A late own goal from Sergio Ramos and a debut effort for Stevan Jovetic in injury time sealed the three points for Jorge Sampaoli's side.

Madrid had led via a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty and Marcelo felt his side lost a little focus after that.

"Maybe we relaxed after scoring the goal," the left-back said after the game.

"What's important now is to learn from these mistakes and try to make sure they don't happen in the future. The important thing is always to learn from these lessons."

The defeat ends Madrid's 40-game unbeaten run and makes things interesting at the top of the table.

Just two points now separate leaders Madrid from third place Barcelona, with Sevilla squeezed in the middle -- although Zinedine Zidane's side do have a game in hand.

"La Liga's always been alive, even though now [this result has] made things a little tighter," Marcelo added. "There are still a lot of games to come and nothing's been decided."
