Marca: Karim Benzema will not have to undergo surgery

The French forward seemed like he had a broken finger but looks like he may avoid going under the knife

Karim Benzema will not need surgery. The French footballer, one of the pillars of Real Madrid's season, suffered what was thought to be a broken finger against Real Betis and was taken off at half-time.

However Marca say that after a visit to the specialist Miguel del Cerro, 'Benzema did not suffer a fracture according to the latest tests.' Instead it is an injury which allows him to keep playing if he takes precautions. 'In theory he should miss three weeks but can use a cast that protests him and immobilises the zone'.

So it seems Benzema can keep playing and next up is a clash with Girona in the Copa del Rey on Thursday - let's see if he makes it.
