Marc Asensio: I was really excited to be back
The forward spoke after scoring against Valencia for Madrid
Marco Asensio will never forget Real Madrid's 3-0 win over Valencia on Thursday night. He scored on his return from injury, 13 months after he last featured in a competitive game. And it was with his first touch. The dream return.
"I was really excited, because it had been so many months of so much work. I'm very happy to return and play for the win.
"There was a lot of emotion because behind it (the goal) there is so much work. The important thing is that we have won and I'm here for the end of the season."
He thought having more possession was the key.
"We started the game well but by the end of the first half Valencia broke through and had chances to score. In the second half we knew we had to have moe of the ball and we did it."
