Major upheaval at Real Madrid as American investor takes control
This is the same person who is willing to fund the remodelling work of the Santiago Bernabéu and Jose Angel Sanchez's role has already been impacted
Aside from sporting matters, Real Madrid are involved in a major reshuffle internally due to the remodelling work of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The major victim from these changes is none other than José Ángel Sánchez.
According to SPORT's sources, an American investor will fund the work to remodel the famous staidum. However that money comes with certain conditions.
Part of those conditions involve a greater handle on the money and investments used for marketing and merchandising at the club. They want to control the economic side of the club due to how much they will be investing in the project.
This movement impacts the club's current General Director, Jose Ángel Sánchez. Since the arrival of the American's people into the Bernabeu offices, his role has been marginalised.
Florentino Perez has added a person he trusts greatly to the operation in Carlos Martínez de Albornoz. The pair worked together at Real Madrid but Albornoz has since moved onto other business ventures owned by Perez.
That leaves Jose Ángel Sánchez with only the sporting side of operations at Real Madrid.
The involvement of American investors has seen the man who was once viewed as the second most important person at Real Madrid relegated to a secondary role.
