Madrid have already rejected a bid from Juventus for the Croatian midfielder
Mateo Kovacic could be interested in a move to Liverpool. That's what British tabloid the Daily Star have reported, saying that the Premier League side are very interested in the Real Madrid midfielder.
Remember that Barca and Liverpool have held talks over Philippe Coutinho and if the Brazilian does move to Camp Nou, Jurgen Klopp's side will need a replacement. And seeing Kovacic's performances when he's given a chance at Madrid, there's no doubt he'd be a good option.
The main problem Liverpool have is that Madrid have already rejected an offer from Juventus this summer for the Croatian, who continues to be a backup option for Zinedine Zidane. Maybe not even the first backup, either, with Isco and Marco Asensio ahead of him.
There's an uncertainty over his release clause -- it's not been revealed how much it is -- and the 'explosion' of prices in the transfer market this summer would mean he would not be leaving the Bernabeu on the cheap.
