Madrid fans chant Modric's name despite midfielder's flirting with Inter
The Croatian came on in the second half of the league win over Getafe
Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui must manage the Luka Modric situation, which doesn't seem easy. First og all, because the Croatian has annoyed Florentino Perez and secondly because the Bernabeu has shown its affection for him.
Modric was a substitute against Getafe on Sunday, as he was in the European Super Cup. And that came after he revealed (after Madrid complained to FIFA about Inter tapping him up) that he was the one who approached the Italian club.
It's a gesture which will not have gone down well with president Perez. Modric will continue with Los Blancos (the Italian market is now closed) but the wound has not healed yet.
The relationship between Modric and the supporters is different, though. Against Getafe this weekend, when he came on in the second half, the supporters sang his name.
In Madrid's first league game of the season, Lopetegui fielded Dani Ceballos in midfield, alongside Toni Kroos and Isco, with Casemiro also left on the bench with Modric.
