Luka Modric's agents are negotiating a move to Inter Milan

According to La Gazzeta, the conversations between the two parties are going well and Modric could be set to switch Madrid for Milan

Maybe Cristiano Ronaldo won't be the only Real Madrid player who swaps Spain for Italy this summer. According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta, Luka Modric's agents have been searching Serie A for a possible destination for the Croatian star. And the same outlet confirms that they've held positive talks with Inter Milan.

Modric, who won the Golden Ball at the World Cup, is in favour of a move after being at Real Madrid for six years. He joined the Spanish side from Tottenham Hotspur in a €30m deal and has played 258 times for Madrid, scoring 13 goals and providing 40 assists.

And the Croatian international, who is nearly 33 years old, has a higher than usual market value following his performances at the World Cup and this could see Florentino Perez cash in. It's worth remembering that, as of yet, Madrid have been unable to raise enough funds to buy a superstar to replace Cristiano. If a deal doesn't materialise for Modric, Madrid will feel obligated to offer the midfielder an improved contract.

As for Inter Milan, they will be competing in the Champions League for the first time in six years and are building a squad to reestablish themselves amongst Europe's elite. This summer they've already signed Radja Nainggolan, Lautaro Martínez, Federíco Dimarco, Matteo Politano, Kwadwo Asamoah, Stefan de Vrij and Sime Vrsaljko.

One of the reasons Modric is keen on a move to Inter is the fact he could join up with fellow countrymen Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and the previously mentioned Sime Vrsaljko.
