Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has been his best self since La Liga resumed, despite being 34. He has been key in the run of nine league wins in a row.
Modric is the brain of the team again and is enjoying a second wind after the time off. However so far he has not been able to renew his deal, which expires at the end of next season.
Zinedine Zidane doesn't know if he will have Modric with him next season. The key could be Modric retiring from international duty, that might encourage Madrid to give him an extension. His exertions with his country have often been bad for Madrid.
He came back injured and tired twice this season after playing with his national team.
