Madrid wanted to spend 80 million euros on him

Lucas Hernandez rejected a big offer from Real Madrid last summer, he told RMC (Radio Montecarlo). Los Blancos wanted to sign him for his 80 million euro release clause.

They bought his brother Theo Hernandez the year before by paying 30 million euros, but Lucas did not want to join.

The French international, a world champions last summer in Russia, explained that "I didn't listen too much because I was 100 per cent focused on my club and renewed my deal recently. My agent told me a bit but I told him not to do that.

"Atletico is my club, the team that gave me everything, I'm an honest person and I cannot go to Madrid."

Lucas said "I want to stay here a long time" but added that "football goes very quickly, if an unrejectable offer came..."
