Neither player will be fit for Madrid's trip to Sevilla on Wednesday

Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui lamented the absences of Dani Carvajal and Isco for Wednesday's trip to Sevilla in La Liga.

Carvajal is still suffering from the muscle injury which kept him out of the win over Espanyol at the weekend, while Isco has been diagnosed with acute appendicitis and could be out for a month

Lopetegui said i's "bad news" and that he will have to find "solutions" to ensure there's no dip in form at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Wednesday.

"Isco arrived [Tuesday] morning with an abdominal problem. He has appendicitis and will have to undergo surgery," the Madrid coach said.

"I hope everything goes well and the recovery's a quick one. The absences are bad news and we will have to think about solutions. The players that come in have our maximum confidence."

Lopetegui added: "I have not been able to speak with Isco. He arrived with the problem this morning, went to hospital and is about to undergo surgery."

On Carvajal, he explained: "Dani has a muscle problem which hasn't evolved as thought it would. We'll have to see how he progresses in the week, but he's ruled out of the Sevilla game.

"You always get injuries and players missing during a season. Isco's appendicitis is bad luck, but it's normal to get injuries when you're playing every three days."

It's a big week for Madrid. After they play Sevilla, they host rivals Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.
