Kylian Mbappe informs PSG he wants to leave the club in 2021
The French superstar's current deal expires in 2022 and he's been linked with a move to Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappe has told PSG he wants to leave the club next summer. According to 'The Times', Mbappe's wish to leave the French champions will start a transfer war between long-term admirers Real Madrid as well as Premier League sides Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.
The 22-year-old superstar, who is out of contract in 2022 but ever since he signed for PSG has been linked with a move away, has rejected every new offer from PSG. He wants greater control over his future and a long-term contract won't allow him that.
Mbappe could even see out his contract until 2022, the year Qatar hosts the World Cup, and leave on a free transfer.
Real Madrid are interested in both of PSG's stars, Neymar and Mbappe, but have always held a stronger admiration for Kylian. He's got a close relationship with Zidane and was interested in a move to Madrid before signing for PSG.
'The Times' claim Florentino Perez's plan to move for Mbappe will happen in 2021 if he hasn't signed a new contract before then. Madrid hope that PSG would rather cash in on Mbappe rather than lose him for nothing in 2022.
Madrid won't get a free run at Mbappe as the Premier League's richest sides would also be interested in signing the player many people consider a future Ballon d'Or winner.
Mbappe is currently self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.
