Karim Benzema injures hamstring in Real Madrid's win at Anoeta

The striker was forced off early in the first half with the problem

Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on Saturday was slightly marred by an injury to striker Karim Benzema in the first half.

Benzema lasted just 16 minutes at Anoeta due to a hamstring problem, although his replacement Luka Jovic scored one and made another as Madrid moved eight points clear at the top of the table.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says Benzema quickly made the decision to come off because he didn't want to risk making the problem any more serious.

The Frenchman is likely to miss the Champions League game in midweek against Inter but could return for the Madrid derby against Atletico next weekend.

“Karim has had a problem with his hamstring, it bothered him a little in the game and it don’t think he will be fit for Tuesday, but maybe for Sunday," Ancelotti said.
