The La Liga chief was critical it seemed of the Brazilian winger

Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has been in the news in recent hours for his Twitter argument with Vinicius, all after that happened with the Brazilian player at Mestalla, the racist attacks has suffered and his apparent lack of support from the league.

Despite Tebas' vehement stance, he finally decided to play down the situation and offer an apology in an interview with ESPN Brasil. "I think the message and the intention that I had, an important part (of people), especially in Brazil, was not understood," he began.

"I didn't want to attack Vinicius, but if most people understood it that way, I need to apologise. It was not my intention. I expressed myself badly, at a bad time.... But I had no intention of attacking Vinicius, but to clarify a situation, because Vinicius had recorded a video in support of La Liga's actions," Tebas explained.

Days earlier, via Twitter, the official had accused the Brazilian of allowing himself to be "manipulated" and of criticising and insulting the competition, as well as revealing that, as he explains, Vinicius had requested some kind of information about La Liga's actions to eradicate racism from stadiums and that he had not turned up to the agreed meetings.

"Since those who should don't explain to you what it is and what @LaLiga can do in cases of racism, we have tried to explain it to you, but you didn't show up to either of the two agreed dates that you yourself requested. Before criticising and insulting @LaLiga, you need to inform yourself properly @Vinijr. Don't let yourself be manipulated and make sure you understand each other's competences and the work we have been doing together," Tebas posted on Twitter.
