James Rodriguez's mother hits out at death threats against her son

The Colombian is receiving the threats online from the group 'Legion Holk'

Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has received death threats on social media after not travelling with Colombia due to an injury.

His absence from the squad has not gone down well in his homeland, with #JamesVerguenzaNacional ('James a national embarrassment' in Spanish) trending on Twitter as supporters voice their disappointment in him.

And Maria del Pilar Rubio Gomez, James’s mother, has denounced tweets which have been directed at her son from the group 'Legion Holk'.

Diario AS explain that this group is notorious for trolling public figures and promoting offensive hashtags and that their activities are being monitored by the FBI.

"I am travelling to your home, I am armed, say goodbye to everything you love," says one of the threats.

James’ mother posted on Twitter: “What's the matter with these people, are they mad? They have sent me a message saying that it would be better to see him dead.”
