The Real Madrid midfielder missed training on Tuesday and will miss a number of games

Real Madrid player Isco underwent surgery on Tuesday after the club confirmed through a short statement that he's suffering from acute appendicitis.

Isco noticed a strong pain in his abdominal and after undergoing tests with the club's doctors the worst was confirmed.

The Spain international missed training on Tuesday, setting off alarm bells, and Madrid revealed why later in the day.

"After the tests carried out today on our player Isco, he has been diagnosed with acute appendicitis," they said. "The player will receive treatment in the coming hours."

It's a setback for Julen Lopetegui, who loses one of his best players for the forseeable future. What is certain at this stage is that he won't be available for games againsr Sevilla, Atlético or CSKA Moscow.

Some sources even suggest he could be out for a month, placing his participation in the Clasico at Camp Nou against Barcelona on Oct. 28 in danger.

The alternatives available to Lopetegui in the meantime are Dani Ceballos, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez.
