Reports in Italy say the Croatian is still keen to leave the Santiago Bernabeu

Inter will not give up their pursuit of Luka Modric, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport. Real Madrid's poor form, the midfielder's lack of a connection with coach Julen Lopetegui and Florentino Perez's reluctance to hand him a new deal have opened the doors to a transfer.

The Serie A side's interest in Modric is now new, although a deal appears more likely now than it did in the summer, especially if we believe reports the Croatian international is keen to make the switch.

Modric's relationship with Lopetegui is distant, in stark contrast to how he connected with Zinedine Zidane. In addition, there has been no new contract offer -- at least not one sufficient to reach an agreement. Perez has not attended the player's petition.

According to the reports in Italy, Modric has more than enough reasons to push through a move. However, a January move could be complicated, although talks could begin over a deal for next summer.
