The Belgian scored a screamer on his first appearance in the league this season

Saturday was a day of firsts for Eden Hazard. After making his first appearance of the season as a substitute in the midweek draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Champions League, he was handed his first start of the season in La Liga against Huesca.

It didn't take long for his first goal to come, too, an unstoppable pile driver from outside the area. In the 40th minute, the Belgian used his first touch to control and turn and his second to fire past Andrés Fernández from 20 yards out.

Hazard's goal against Huesca was his first for Madrid in 392 days. His last goal for Los Blancos was Oct. 5, 2019, against Granada. That was his first goal for Madrid. Saturday's effort was his second.

In the game, Hazard took Vinicius Jr's place in the side. The Brazilian had been the subject of criticism following his performance against Gladbach, when Karim Benzema told teammate Ferland Mendy not to pass to him.

Benzema was also on target against Huesca, scoring twice as Madrid won 4-1 to return to the top of La Liga.
