Pérez left his balcony and was ready to go sack Lopetegui straight away but was stopped and calmed down by fellow Madrid officials

Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, left the executive's balcony at the Santiago Bernabeu following his side's victory over Viktoria Plzen in a foul mood. He had one thing on his mind: sack Julen Lopetegui. Despite the victory it was another poor performance from Los Blancos and Perez had seen enough. It was time to get rid of the former Spain coach.

However, according to 'El Confidencial', Real Madrid's general director Jose Angel Sanchez and some other executive met with Perez and were able to calm him down. They told the president it wouldn't be a good idea to sack Lopetegui at this moment in time. Sanchez is someone Florentino admires a lot and he told the president to wait until at least El Clasico before making a decision.

Amongst other things, Sanchez made Perez realise that it'd be difficult to find a replacement for Lopetegui and to not rush into making a decision before El Clasico. It was at this point, according to the same source, that Perez acknowledged the executive's points and decided against sacking Lopetegui then and there.
