Florentino Pérez gives up on signing a new striker at Real Madrid

The players they want are unattainable and the ones available aren't deemed better than what they've already got

Julen Lopetegui and the Real Madrid supporters have asked Florentino Perez for a new striker to complete the forward line after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. They're concerned that, without the Portuguese man, they'll be 50 goals per season light.

The president had a list of reinforcements but all of the names have been crossed out as it became clear none of them were for sale.

Perez and the general director at the club, Jose Angel Sanchez, both believe that the players they could sign aren't bettter than what they already have in Benzema, Bale and Mayoral. Vinicius Jr isn't expected to compete for a first team spot just yet.

The best alternative is RB Leipzig's Timo Werner although they too have closed the door on selling the young German striker this month.

LOPETEGUI wants RODRIGO

Lopetegui has asked for Rodrigo Moreno. The Brazilian-born Spaniard, who was in Real Madrid's academy as a youngster, is leading the line for Valencia this season and scored against Atletico Madrid last night. His buyout clause is €120m but that's a figure Madrid aren't willing to pay.

In fact, Perez is only offering €60m for a footballer who is already 27 years old. Lopetegui knows the player well from his time as Spain's coach but is aware that he's just a voice and doesn't make a final decision on the players who come and go. "Signing players isn't in my hands."

Kane, Lewandowski, Icardi and Cavani were on Florentino's chosen list. Bayern have convinced Lewandowski to stay, Tottenham refuse to listen to offers for Kane, Icardi is about to sign a new deal at Inter and that only leaves Cavani. Real Madrid are interested in the Uruguayan striker but only if it's at a discounted price. They won't spend over the odds for a 31-year-old striker.

There are ten days left until the transfer window closes and everything suggests a new striker won't be arriving at Real Madrid this season.
