Espanyol striker Joselu to join Real Madrid on loan ahead of next season

Joselu's time at Espanyol seems to be numbered. The Pericos, who will have to reduce their wage bill due to relegation, will not be able to keep the Spain striker in their squad and his departure is almost certain. The formula decided by all parties, after the interest of Real Madrid, would be a season-long loan, with Joselu returning to Espanyol in case of promotion next season. Possible transfers of players from Madrid's academy are being considered as compensation.

Joselu has ended up being one of the top scorers in the Primera despite Espanyol's poor season. Espanyol would receive an economic consideration for the loan in a very favourable operation for Madrid, who would get a striker at a very low cost. In the agreement, which could be formalised in the next few days, a loan of a player from Castilla could be finalised.
