The Real Madrid player was accused of defrauding Spaun's tax authorities

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has accepted an eight month prison sentence and a 1.4 million euros fine (he's already paid one million) for tax fraud after reaching an agreement with the prosecutor.

Judicial sources confirmed to EFE that an agreement has been reached, as first revealed by El Mundo, after charges were brought against the Croatian international relating to earnings on his image rights.

He was accused of defrauding Spaun's tax authorities to the tune of 870,728 euros by using a limited company based in Luxembourg in 2013 and 2014.

Modric will not have to complete a prison term, though, reports El Mundo, after he agreed to exchange the sentence for a fine of 60,000 euros.

The midfielder will be in action for Madrid on Saturday night when Los Blancos host Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu.
