Eder Militao injured cruciate ligament, out for months

After the injury that forced Eder Militao off the pitch against Athletic Bilbao, the worst possible news has arrived for Carlo Ancelotti's side. The Brazilian has ruptured the cruciate ligament in his knee and will be out for a lengthy period of time.

Real Madrid said: "Following tests carried out on our player Eder Militao, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days".

The estimated recovery time will be around 6 months. Madrid, with this loss, have lost one of their best players and a pillar in defence.

It is the second quick setback for Real Madrid, days after Thibaut Courtois' serious injury was confirmed, which will keep him out for 7-8 months.
