Cristiano Ronaldo's uncertain future is impacting Lopetegui's plans at Real Madrid

Real Madrid are happy to sell the Portuguese superstar this summer but if he stays, and Bale leaves, it could delay the arrival of Neymar and a striker

The uncertain future surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo is having an after effect at his club, Real Madrid, as they look to restructure their squad ahead of the new season. Madrid's president, Florentino Pérez, has grown tired of Cristiano's method of negotiating and is now considering the sale of the team's best player rather than bowing down to his excessive wage demands. Due to the impasse, Perez is open to letting him star man leave but only if he sees a return on the €97m investment he made back in 2009.

Those close to Cristiano have denied the story about his buyout clause being reduced to €120m. Everything remains the same until Real Madrid see a good enough reason to sell the player this summer, according to 'Onda Cero'. They won't give him away but would accept any fair offer which comes their way. His sale would save the club around €140m in wages (€46m per season until 2021).

Are there offers for Cristiano or not?

While the club doubts that the player has received any offers from interested clubs, the player's entourage insist that he has plenty to choose from. Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for Cristiano but it remains to be seen if any would be willing to match his wage demands. There's also the possibility Manchester United could offer an escape route for their former player thanks to the influence of Jorge Mendes. They offered €90m according to 'Soy Madridista' and Mendes communicated as much to Madrid. Although the club is happy to sell Cristiano, they won't accept anything less than €97m.

The relationship between Perez and Cristiano only continues to worsen by the day. If he stays, everything will change with it. This will force Bale to consider his future as he wants more playing time and the signing of Neymar would be put on hold until next summer, especially as PSG refuse to sell. But if he leaves then it opens the door to Bale staying as well as the signing of Eden Hazard (instead of Neymar) and a goalscorer such as Lewandowski or Lukaku, but not Harry Kane.
