The forward was disappointed to see Pepe, Morata and James leave

The trio were replaced by younger players in the summer window

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo suggested he was not in favour of the clu's decision to let the likes of Pepe, Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez leave in the summer.

Madrid are eight points off top spot in La Liga and lost to Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday, with a lack of depth one of the reasons given for their slow start to the season.

Pepe left for Besiktas as his contract expired, while Morata and James joined Chelsea and Bayern respecitvely.

"If you ask me, sincerely, every team would miss their big players," Ronaldo said. “Obviously, Pepe was a great player, Morata, James -- all the players who left. They made us stronger, obviously.

“I’m not saying the players who arrived don’t also have this role, but they’re much younger. It’s their first season here with us.

“We are not seeing this as an excuse, but I think that, in the same way we miss [Dani] Carvajal, we miss [Gareth] Bale, all the injured players. When the squad is full, we’re much stronger.”
