Carvajal: "I want to go to the Camp Nou and win - nothing else matters"

Real Madrid right-back, Dani Carvajal, is convinced 'El Clasico' will go ahead as planned and doesn't want to talk about the current political climate in Catalunya.

Speaking at an event promoting the popular game 'Call of Duty', Carvajal was asked about the possible protests taking place around the Camp Nou on the date of 'El Clasico'. "In regards to that topic, we're calm. We want the match to be played with everyone's safety guaranteed."

When pressed about the protests, Carvajal insisted it wasn't something he wanted to talk about. "I try to avoid this topic. I want to go to the Camp Nou and win. Nothing else matters."

The defender says the team's full focus is currently on Valencia rather than the Barça fixture. "We'll play where they tell us to but we're focused on Valencia. There are three points available just as there will be at the Camp Nou."

Barça will have a few more hours rest than Madrid going into the match and Carvajal believes it'll be noticeable on the legs. "We're in a good moment right now. It's an important week and we'll be motivated to perform at the Mestalla and Camp Nou."

There was also time for the regular question about Kylian Mbappe and his possible move to the Spanish capital next summer. "He's one of the best and it'd be great if he joined because the best players must remain here."

Carvajal also defended his teammate Gareth Bale who came under fire from supporters are holding a flag with the words "Wales, Golf, Madrid in that order". He feels the message wasn't directed at Madrid fans. "He was giving it back a little to the media. We want him to feel wanted here."
