Bale's agent admits it could be difficult for the forward to remain in Spain this summer

Gareth Bale's days at Real Madrid could be numbered. His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has admitted as much in an interview with Sky Sports.

Barnett said that the Wales forward wants to stay at the Bernabeu but conceded that may not be possible with Zinedine Zidane in charge.

"He wants to stay," the agent confirmed. "I am not sure that Mr Zidane wants him to stay but at the moment Gareth wants to stay.

"He has got a contract, he will quite happily see it out until 2022. He has been and is, in my opinion, one of the top three or four players in the world.

"This game is a game of opinions and Mr Zidane doesn't think that. That is his opinion, he is entitled to it, I won't criticise him."

Bale's absence from the Madrid squad for the game against Villarreal was one of the big talking points last weekend and Zidane was asked if the ex-Tottenham man would leave this summer.

"You can interpret it as you wish [leaving him out]," Zidane said. "I need to pick a squad of players and some are going to miss out."
