The Real Madrid winger should have been sent off in the first half of the 2-0 win

There was controversy at the end of the the first half of Real Madrid's game against Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday involving Gareth Bale.

Bale burst forward on the right and when Celta's Kevin Vazquez tried to tackle him, the Welshman threw out an elbow and caught his opponent. Kevin needed to be attended to by the Vigo side's medical team.

But referee Martinez Munuera only gave Bale a yellow card when he should have seen red. It proved a big decision, with the former Tottenham man scoring Madrid's second goal in an eventual 2-0 win.

Bale ended up setting up Karim Benzema to score after striking Kevin but the goal was ruled out because of his foul. It was goalless at the time.

The game was Zinedine Zidane's first back on the Bernabeu bench. The coach recalled Keylor Navas and Isco, the latter scoring the goal which opened the scoring after being ostracised by Santi Solari.
