Zidane has rested several players for Sunday's league game

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has confirmed once again that the Champions League is the only objective now.

Knocked out of the Copa del Rey and only fighting for second in La Liga, Zidane knows Europe's the only thing that can save the season.

For that reason, for Sunday's trip to Malaga in the league, he's made a number of surprise squad calls.

The French coach has called up 19 players for the 32nd league game of the season, with a number of big names not making the trip south.

The absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, the club's star player, is the big news, although Gareth Bale is also missing the trip.

Bale's absence is more curious, given he was one of those criticised against Juventus, hauled off at half-time, and has been regularly left on the bench this season so doesn't need resting.

REAL MADRID SQUAD:

  • Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas, Casilla & Luca.
  • Defenders: Carvajal, Vallejo, Ramos, Marcelo, Theo & Achraf.
  • Midfielders: Kroos, Casemiro, M. Llorente, Kovacic, Asensio, Isco & Ceballos.
  • Forwards: Benzema, Lucas Vázquez & B. Mayoral.
