The Danish midfielder's contract expires in 2020 and he's still yet to pen a new deal but Spurs need to raise funds after building new stadium

Winning the Champions League is Tottenham Hotspur's dream this season. Not only for the sporting achievement but also the cash windfall which comes with it. After finally opening their new stadium, and the huge cost which came with that, Spurs will be forced to sell any of their stars who refuse to committ their future to the club. According to 'AS', Christian Eriksen will be the first to leave and he's wanted by Real Madrid this summer.

If Spurs win the Champions League, they could pocket a cool €100m. However that isn't enough according to the Madrid-based newspaper. That's because the budget for the stadium went way above the original estimates. Daniel Levy has admitted that the club will be forced to generate more income as they look to clear the new stadium's debts. Pochettino continues to keep them amongst the elite of the Premier League and their policy of keeping their best players on long-term contracts, meaning they aren't forced to sell has worked well up until now.

Eriksen is yet to sign a new contract

Harry Kane and Dele Alli have recently signed new deals but Eriksen hasn't. The midfielder's contract runs until 2020 and has yet to accept any offer from Spurs to extend it. The problem for Tottenham is that they can't afford to let him leave for nothing and as such might be forced to sell him this summer to avoid that.

Levy is a tough negotiator as Madrid know all too well after signing Modric and Bale from the London club in the past. As is the case with Hazard, 'Los Blancos' will rely on the player pushing for a move this summer. Florentino Perez knows Eriksen won't come on the cheap but hopes to hold the upper hand in the negotiations due to the player's contract situation.
