The original plan had been for him to be Marcelo's understudy

His off pitch problems could have something to do with the plan

Real Madrid have still not officially confirmed the arrival of Theo Hernandez, but AS say the club are planning to send him on loan next season.

They say the reason is to gain more experience, but behind that could be the fact the player has been questioned by police this week after being accused fo sexual assault in Marbella.

It's true Madrid re-signed Dani Carvajal from Bayer Leverkusen after the right-back improved in Germany, but Theo's case doesn't seem to fall in the same parameters.

Theo is 19, but, for example, Marcelo was 18 and nobody wanted to send the Brazilian on loan when he joined the club.

Madrid closed a deal for Theo Hernandez in May for 30 million euros. The player has been offered a five-year deal and, while Madrid may have been planning to loan him out, what's true is that his recent problems have helped make their decision.

Not just the sexual assault case, but the fact he also failed to turn up for duty with the France U21 squad, instead going to Marbella.

Los Blancos have sent players like Llorente, Mayoral and Vallejo on loan but the idea behind the signing of Theo was to bring in a back-up for Marcelo, with Fabio Coentrao expected to leave this summer.
