Perez had claimed Madrid's offer was only worth €45 million

On Monday, the trial against Neymar started. The Brazilian footballer himself and former Barcelona presidents Rosell and Bartomeu will testify in the case brought against them by the Brazilian company DIS for "corruption between individuals" and "fraud by simulated contract" in the signing of the forward by Barça in 2013.

Florentino Pérez declared on Tuesday morning by video link. The president of Real Madrid distanced himself from any participation in the negotiations that Los Blancos maintained to try to sign the Brazilian. "I knew of the interest in Neymar from the Real Madrid sports committee. I did not participate in any negotiations," he said.

The Madrid president was very clear about the figure that Madrid put on Santos' table. "In 2011, Real Madrid made an offer to Santos for Neymar. I think it was €45 million. It's in the case summary," he said, assuring that it was "the only offer that appears in Madrid's files".

Cury contradicts Florentino's version

However, André Cury, a former Barça scout in Brazil, has revealed what Real Madrid was willing to pay for Neymar in the summer of 2013: "In July 2013, Madrid offered around €150-160m euros. Madrid would have paid much more to Neymar".

Cury was referring to the total amount of the operation, taking into account the transfer with Santos, Neymar's salary, the commission for the footballer's father and the fine of €40m that the father would have to pay to Barça for breaking their agreement.
