The Real Madrid boss was not convinced the goal should have been ruled out

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said that he is going back to "Madrid with the doubt of the offside" flagged against Marco Asensio by VAR that cancelled out a Los Blancos goal at 1-1 in a match that Barcelona ended up winning 2-1.

Asensio's strike was disallowed in the 83rd minute because it was offside.

"It was a complete performance from the first to the last minute. We didn't win because of the offside, which we still have doubts about," insisted Ancelotti in a press conference.

Despite the defeat, Ancelotti said that "with performances like this" his team will "win something in the remainder of the season" with the Copa del Rey and Champions League still in play.

Despite slipping 12 points behind Barça, he added: "The match was very good and the changes were very good. We are going to fight until the end in all competitions with a lot of confidence."

Furthermore, he said that this defeat will not cause Madrid any doubts.

"We had doubts after the Spanish Super Cup game, but today we can't have doubts after playing a game like that. Honestly, I don't think we deserved the defeat," he said.

Asked why he did not make the substitutions earlier that made Madrid more attacking, Ancelotti replied that he "doesn't see it as normal to make five substitutions in the 60th minute."

But he added that he is very satisfied "with the changes" he made in the second half.
