The Real Madrid coach is hoping for another memorable night at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says his side know how difficult it will be to beat Manchester City but are confident they can reach another Champions League final.

City won the first leg 4-3 in Manchester ahead of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, with the winners meeting Liverpool or Villarreal later this month.

"The team is focused, we know how difficult the task is but we are confident," Ancelotti said in a press conference. "We want to overturn the small disadvantage we have.

"To reach a Champions League final you need a little of everything, which we will have with the push from the Bernabeu crowd, but also in terms of individual and collective quality. And then that character that allows you to show you have that quality."

Ancelotti said his side will take risks in attack but played down the effect of history, with 13-time European champions Madrid targeting their fifth Champions League final in nine years.

"There are times you have to take risks but we have the quality for that," he added. "In the Champions League, we scored three against PSG, five against Chelsea and another three against Man City.

"It will be difficult, but we have a chance to reach another final after winning LaLiga. We can do it. I don't think history will influence the game because every game is its story."
