The Real Madrid boss was asked about Messi claiming the prize ahead of Benzema

Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media at a press conference on Wednesday before Real Madrid host Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Madrid coach, during his appearance, gave a helping hand to his striker, Karim Benzema, who did not attend the FIFA 'The Best' award ceremony on Monday when Lionel Messi was the night's big winner.

Ancelotti, seasoned in a thousand battles, is not surprised by anything, although he is clear that he would have made a different decision about the winner of the award.

"It hasn't caught my attention, it's quite normal," he said of the fact that the best footballer in history, Messi, won the prize after winning the World Cup in Qatar in Argentina.

However, he explained that he would have voted differently: "My three (votes) I can't say because I have a conflict of interest," he said before revealing "but they are Real Madrid players, for sure."
